castello and vineyard

The Maria Reda Winery works to promote the development of the Biella area as a tourist destination, offering the public the chance to vist the Estate and find out about the production of Piedmontese wine. The castle of Montecavallo is one of the very few examples of neo gothic architecture in Piedmont. Visitors can stroll in the park and through the vineyards, visit the chapel and the ice house, and explore the historic cellar with its important old wine press and taste the wines that are made there. The garden has a wealth of camellias, magnolias, hydrangeas, azaleas, roses and palms. Guided tours are conducted by the owner of the Castle and Estate herself.
The Castle of Montecavallo is a member of the Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane.

Tastings accompanied by a selection of typical local Biellese dishes are available to groups of 6 to 15 visitors but must be booked in advance.

  • Guided tour for a minimum of 20 visitors – the tour lasts 1 hr 30 mins.

  • Guided tour with wine tasting accompanied by cheese and cold cuts for groups of a minimum of 15 – 2 hrs 30mins.

  • Guided tour with wine tasting and buffet in the castle dining room for a minimum of 6 and maximum of 15 visitors – 3 hrs.
The Estate opens its doors to visitors throughout the year, being closed only between 20th August to 10th September and 20th December to 10th January. Visits can be conducted in English or French.
